eliminate, simplify, automate, delegate

A year or two ago I came across an interesting article and really liked the method it proposed for optimizing processes (or a person's time). In short, when optimizing any process, job, task, or activity, look at it and go through this sequence:
- Eliminate it, if at all possible.
- Simplify it.
- Automate it.
- Delegate it.
Tim Ferriss put it well in The 4-Hour Workweek:
Never automate something that can be eliminated, and never delegate something that can be automated or streamlined. Otherwise, you waste someone else's time instead of your own, which now wastes your hard-earned cash.
